Miss Katie helps out Plan B!

We have to give Miss Katie a huge thank you for helping out our Plan B photographers on a little field trip.  I've been working with them on a few concepts and this lesson was what to do when there is NO good light and you basically have a sticker patch and that is it!  So we played around doing a couple different things and perhaps the funniest part was me trying to get lens flare.  Yes, I know it is kind of trendy at the moment, but photographers have spent years & money AVOIDING lens flare!  So it is kind of like forcing me to do something wrong... don't know why but it kills me.  :)

So we had a little fun and I just had to share.  Again, Katie you are too sweet to help us out!  I hope you got all the stickers out of shoes!

So today Kim and Kristen were working on some techniques here and caught a couple images.  One of the things the girls might hate right now, but will love later on is they aren't allowed to put the camera on auto- it is manual all the way!  Why?  Because I want them to understand the concepts behind getting the image.  Too many people throw a camera on auto and then it doesn't turn out and don't know why it didn't turn out.  So I'm happy that my Plan B ladies are well trained and rising to each assignment!

I will be really happy when they learn to process their own stuff too!

Now how about when Miss Kristen get a hold of the camera....you will notice Kristen always has a different view of the world!  What do I notice... that I spent a lot of money of A&F jeans that have holes in them.... at least "back in the day" we had to go use Dad's grinder and stuff to get the look!

 

 

 

Of course what else to do for me... but to catch a couple of shots of them when they are working!

Heart of Clarity at Borders this Friday

A few of you got to meet Julie from Heart of Clarity at Halloween.  (Wasn't she a fabulous Medusa?)
Well Julie is doing something very, no... very VERY cool on Friday at Borders 6:30-8:30pm. Now here is the best part... There are seats for 15 people and she is going to do a little sample of the Passion Test.  This is a great opportunity to check it out for free!  I've been doing the Passion test with Julie and it really is amazing.  I would recommend this for adults and seniors in high school that are facing big decisions on the direction of their life.

So come on out to Borders 6:30-8:30pm Friday.... you wont see it on her website- this is a inky-dinky-do insider moment guys so take advantage!

Introducing Artist Choice Mondays...

People often are amazed at the "artistic images" that seem to run through my head and plague my attempts at a good nights sleep.  So  there is only one thing to be done.... let them free.   A session to play and try new things and new locations.  All my "creativity" unleashed if you like.  So each Monday it is my goal to photograph 1 new idea, location, style, lighting pattern... whatever idea is keeping me from sleep that week.
So why on earth am I babbling about my sleep... because if you are up for a little adventure too we might be able to create a little art together!  This is the chance to just sit back and let the artist create and have faith in the end result.   The catch- well you have to be darning, open to possibilities and know that it wont be about how many poses or such- it will be about capturing one stellar image, or a series in a great location.  At this point I'm thinking of older kids and adults.  Babies are always on my mind, but luckily they aren't haunting my sleep yet! 

How do we decide which clients?  How do you know what we will do.... this is the fun and the mystery.  We encourage everyone to call the boutique and let us know you are interested and we will see if you might work for an up coming idea!  Hey, you know it will be on a Monday!

The Tiki Hut is now open...

We are happy to announce that the tiki hut is now open for sessions.  Great for Rendezvous Sessions, Seniors, Kids and Families!  So book a morning session to avoid the heat and enjoy the islands without having to leave town!

We are looking for a new member of the inky-dinky-do team. 

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic person to work in our boutique location. This Image Consultant position requires computer skills, able to multi-task, strong phone and customer service skills, organization, and able to work independantly.   Retail sales experience a plus.  Tasks will include reception, sales orders, customer service, scheduling and order tracking.  Part time M-F with the occasional Sat.  We move fast around here so you have to be able to take direction quickly.

The Great Photo Scavanger Hunt

We thought it would be fun to do a little freebie!  That's right free stuff coming your way.. .but wait, there is a catch... this time you have to do a little something for us!!!

We thought it would be fun to do a little scavenger hunt!

Rules... OK more like guidelines!
Kids, parents and small critters are allowed to win!
photograph each item with your own interpretation.
Present your photos in any way you please, on-line. (Please note that we don't host your photos - you have to organize that yourself.) or printed out and dropped to the boutique.(size doesn't matter 4x6's are fine)
Photographs from your digital camera, film camera or both is fine.
label each with which item you are checking off the list.
Basic photographic editing techniques (cropping etc.) are allowed, but don't go crazy.
Don't do anything illegal
you can't take photos off the net- you have to take them yourselves.

We want to see some fun and creativity.  Actual photo ability is not the key here guys so don't get hung up on that!

The winner will get a day of private photographic instruction with Stephanie including lunch!
