I'm really excited to let everyone know about a great night of fun and retail therapy coming up all for a great cause!  inky-dinky-do has been working on a little project and teamed up with Denise Haddock to make it a reality.  Trust us this will be a great night.  So if you ever have wanted to know what the new trend is, but more importantly how to incorporate it properly this is the night for you.  Not to mention a little wine tasting and sprinkle in some bling from the area's best jeweler and you have yourself the ideal girls night out!  I'll be leaking a little more information as it gets closer, but trust me ladies- mark you calenders now!

Bakersfield Showcase House

I was blessed with seeing the Bakersfield Showcase House this morning.  It is amazing.  I met Denise Haddock of Denise Haddock Unique Interior Designs for a quick photo in her showcase room and was lucky enough to meet some of the designers.  We even saw the beautiful pool from executive pools!  Denise designed the den and it feels like you are walking onto a movie set with all the perfect attention to detail.  Be sure to see the attached bath- I love the mirror!   You  might recognize the room when you get there as it was featured on the cover of Bakersfield Life Magazine.

It is definitely worth the $20 that goes to charity for a peek.  Sunday is the last day so don't miss out and plan on a little trip to see this amazing house.  So if you love checking out the model homes, your friends houses and such- see what talented painters, designers and stylists can do when they are turned loose!

Tickets are available at the door just take the shuttle from the corner of Buena Vista and Ming Avenue. No parking allowed at Showcase House.

*No infants or children under 12 will be admitted on the shuttles or property.
*Flat shoes only.
*Cell phones must be turned off while touring.
*No strollers or backpacks permitted in house.

Trust me there are so many thing YOU want to reach out and touch there is no way you could keep those kids from doing it!

Bakersfield's Best Kept Secret this Week....

Miss Lili Parker!
A personal shopper and exclusive fashion retailer for some of the mover and shakers in the know around town.

Now I know some of you know who I'm talking about and you all are just shaking your head thinking I can't believe she is telling people.... I am!  You guys have kept this secret WAY too long! 

Lili is just the sweetest person and talk about customer service... heck I think she would have found someone to wax my car while I was shopping if I asked.  With her being so personalized and exclusive you would think she would be stuffy- so not the case.  She is warm, inviting and all the while sharing her expertise. 

So now what does Miss Lili Parker have... CLOTHES... glorious clothes... I mean fashion.  She has a suit that is just business enough, yet sassy enough that I wanted it on the spot knowing I'd have to diet to fit in it- didn't care still want it!  She has fabulous suits for ladies ranging from classy Mother of the Bride, to Southern Mother of the Bride, to Corporate Board room that is all about being a fabulous woman yet professional.  She pointed out the perfect outfit for the next time I'm speaking out of state that wont require me to iron it- love that!  She had two styles of dress (one red, one black) that are the perfect answer to the office party with the husband.  You know just dressy enough, not trying too hard, sexy, but classy and definitely not something everyone else is wearing.  Love it!  She had a brown leather bolero jacket that is screaming to be worn out.  Dresses that are great for that random beach wedding or dinner at the Getty fund raiser.  There were shoes too..... AND she can order TONS of stuff.  So need that perfect outfit for Junior League, Cotillion, Church or special event? She either has it or can order something to your personal style.  Oh, one more fabulous little trait... if she sets you up with a look for a special event and your friend goes to her too- no worries there is no chance you will look alike!  I guess that is her personal shopper coming through!  There is casual stuff too- tons of cute stuff to go with jeans even.  Just so the hubby doesn't feel left out... there are suits for him too.  I happen to have noticed Jeremy Sutton of Morgan Stanley (yes, ladies he was profiled in Bakersfield Life not too long ago) sporting a suit from Miss Lili's little home boutique not too long ago. 

So you simply must call Miss Lili and her husband Larry Parker and set up a consultation.  Mention you are an inky-dinky-do client and enjoy the fact that she will not only help you figure out what looks best on you, but make sure it gets altered if needed to hang perfectly too.  Can't find the time 9-5 don't worry she said she would take care of inky-dinky-do clients after 5pm if needed.  That is pretty cool.  Not sure what might look good on you?  (hey what looked good 3 kids ago might not be the same now!) Lili can help you find your style again.   Who knew that  little old me and all my clients could have access to such a great shopper and stylist!

COOL SPORTS NIGHT!

Ever wish you knew about some sports team or organization before the season started?

Ever wonder how people learn about these (like us with the new rec soccer league - the Brigade!) well Terrio has come up with a great idea!  They are sponsoring a fun night at the Edge (which mean super cool training facility in Rosedale) for all of us folks to come see what is available in town!  ALL sports- gymnastics, soccer, track, swimming... they haven't forgotten any of them.  Meet the people involved, get information on events and what they can offer your family!  Not to mention get answers to those questions like... how good do you have to be to try out for club soccer?  what soccer teams are there to choose from?  not only get the answer- but meet the different teams in one location!

We were so impressed with the idea we decided we want to be involved!  So one of those cool prizes they will be giving away will be from us!

Bumbo Seats Recalled

I know lots of the parents are using the Bumbo seats and you need to know that there have been severely injured with head injuries .  Never put the Bumbo on any surface that is raised.  So only the floor.  I would even go for carpet only.  The kids can flip themselves out of the seats.  It sounds like the recall is just to add a label to them telling you to not use them on a raised surface so I don't know that you want to toss them out, but be aware of the possible dangers.

The Annoy-a-tron.....

The ThinkGeek Annoy-a-tron would be useless against an army of Snowbots, but it's very effective at disturbing that guy in the sales department or your "friend" down the hall. With its thin design and embedded magnet for easy hiding, the Annoy-a-tron can be placed in a variety of locations. Select one of the three sound choices (2 kHz, 12 kHz, or alternating) and push the switch to the on position. Place it in a proper hiding spot and let the "fun" begin.
The Annoy-a-tron generates a short (but very annoying, hence the name) beep every few minutes. Your unsuspecting target will have a hard time 'timing' the location of the sound because the beeps will vary in intervals ranging from 2 to 8 minutes. The 2kHz sound is generically annoying enough, but if you really really want to aggravate somebody, select the 12 kHz sound. Trust us.
